YPN concluded its 2008-2009 year in style in the Rose Garden Ballroom on the 19th floor of Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue. This event also featured YPN’s “Volunteer of the Year”, awarded to Mr. Ruben Reyes of Lyquix. The “Volunteer of the Year” exemplified the spirit of volunteerism and community involvement, especially during YPN’s volunteer activities throughout the year. Mr. Reyes donated his $500 award to D’s Dawgs, a foundation created in memory of thirteen-year-old Danielle Bledy, who died two years ago of a brain aneurysm. Jeff DeCesare, last year’s winner, presented the 2009 award. Ms. Renee Archawski, Executive Director of Greater Philadelphia Cares spoke about the importance of volunteerism and announced a YPN’s new partnership with Greater Philadelphia Cares. This is a great opportunity to get more YPN members involved in volunteering and participating in activities in the Greater Philadelphia region.

This event also marked the passing of the torch from current chair, Mr. Kevin Cafferky of Philadelphia OIC, to Mrs. Stephanie Gambone of the Philadelphia Youth Network. We look forward to welcoming Mrs. Gambone as the 2009-2010 YPN Chair on September 24, 2009 at the YPN event at The Star Group.

Another successful night of networking while hanging out on the river! It is a tough job, but somebody has to do it!

The Chart House has the reputation of hosting the best Business After Hours Event of the year and they certainly didn’t disappoint this year. The house was packed with many (200 +) Chamber members who congregated at the main bar and outdoor terraces and enjoyed beverages, delicious snacks, a beautiful view of the river and the Battleship New Jersey, a rainy summer evening, and a phenomenal networking opportunity.

The Ambassadors were everywhere meeting and greeting and making sure new faces met old friends. Congratulations to the Chart House for the fantastic food, the beautiful venue, and keeping up their high standards. Thanks to everyone who had display tables set up and a special thanks to the Chamber Staff who put this event together. If you missed this opportunity to make new friends and business contacts, you missed a super event. Business After Hours is a great prospecting tool. Do yourself a favor and don’t miss the next BAH.

BABC Board with Mayor Nutter

The British American Business Council was pleased to host the fellows of the British American Project and the British Consulate-General on Tuesday evening, June 30, for a reception featuring special guests Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter and Deputy Consul-General Dominic Meiklejohn. The reception, intended to engage the community and generate awareness for the British American Project’s 25th anniversary and upcoming Philadelphia conference, was attended by key civic and business leaders from the tri-state region. Aside from joking about former British Prime Minister Tony Blair’s newfound love for Philadelphia cheesesteaks, Mayor Nutter stressed his determination to furthering the Philadelphia-UK business relationship.
